Klasik Nasional is a combination of two previous stations in RTM namely NASIONALfm and KLASIKfm (it was once known as RIMA). Both the station was merged on August 12, 2006 playing the best classical Malay songs. This station is prone to play rhythmic Malay songs. Songs chosen are from the 1950s to the latest songs except rock and hip hop.

Meanwhile, present programmes in NASIONALfm, including news are meant to transmit more information to the listeners. More leisurely and cheerful information will also be included topped with rhythmic Malay songs which indirectly will entertain besides disseminating interesting information.Klasik Nasional’s main purpose was to extend KLASIKfm’s broadcast coverage to entire country linstead of in the Klang Valley area only. Besides, the station also increases the airtime of rhythmic Malay songs from 16 hours to 24 hours through the present channel in NASIONALfm.

‘Segalanya di sini, Menggamit Memori’ was the combination tagline; between both stations which means listeners can get everything they want from the station including entertainment, sports, play, current affairs, development and agriculture cases, religion, news and live telecast as well as various Malay contemporary and classical songs making it one of the memorable station in Malaysia.

Frequencies vary depending on its region. Among some of the interesting segments from the station are ‘Pilihan Klasik’, ‘Senandung Warisan’, ‘Gurindam Jiwa’ and ‘Hati ke Hati’.An exciting segment ‘Karaoke D Klasik’ on every Friday from 9.15 till 10 pm, give the listeners a try to sing on air by choosing a song from a list prepared by the deejay. Definitely worth waiting for every Friday.
