Christina Perri – Lovestrong
By now, you would have heard the song ‘Jar of Hearts’ by Christina Perri. The haunting and totally depressing tune was made popular through an episode in ‘So you think you can dance!’ and this surely has propelled Christina into the limelight. The song has enjoyed chart success around the world but there are more to come through her album ‘Lovestrong’ which s where the song is found.
Produced by Joe Chiccarelli who had previously worked with the likes of Tori Amos and The White Stripes, the 11 songs found in ‘Lovestrong’ is as the word suggests, strong. It was not easy to record this album as Perri had stated that it was emotionally draining to record the album which put love on the centerstage.
One thing about Perri’s music is that each track feels amazingly personal and she rarely disappoints with her vocal prowess which are clearly demonstrated here. The only setback perhaps is that Perri peaked too early wth ‘Jar of Hearts’ which take the shine off her second single ‘Arms’, which is equally as good and somewhat happier. Her other singles like ‘The Lonely’, ‘Tragedy’ and ‘Penguin’ too are all commendable efforts and is one album which will enthrall. Buy it if you are looking for something different and unique.
